Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

I had most of my journal entry typed out and was just thinking whether or not I needed to put anything else in, and I pressed a key - I don't know what - and I deleted the entire thing. This is me being annoyed.

On the other hand, I'm also a bit bouncy at the moment. I have a story again! I'm writing again, and it's coming relatively easily, unlike that awful forced stuff about the wizard.

Which reminds me - Astro City: Freedom is finished, and in need of a beta. Is there anyone who wants to volunteer? Email me if you do, and I'll send it to you.

But. Yes.

Writing. I am pleased. You can laugh at the fandom all you want (Man From U.N.C.L.E), but it's getting me writing again, and this cannot be a bad thing. I'd forgotten how nice it was to have the phrases roll easily off my pen (literally, I was using a ball point today), and have things just fall together, rather than each sentence being laboriously and awfully constructed. I haven't decided yet whether I'll set it in New Zealand or Belgium/Holland yet. I'm kinda leaning towards New Zealand, because I know what happens here. And I think it would work. I also haven't decided whether I'll post it in stages, or all at once. I would like to hear people's opinion on that, please.

Oh, dryadwoman. If you do get those tapes, I would love to be able to watch them with you. In return, I can offer the loan of a book in rather poor condition (it's held together by yellow, ancient sellotape) entitled: The Man From U.N.C.L.E: The Copenhagan Affair, by John Oram. I won't go into any details, in case you haven't read it, and will avoid giving you spoilers, which I almost did before, but it's not bad. And I'm thinking about typing it onto the computer, in order to prevent it falling to pieces any further.

Also, I finally got to give my powerpoint presentation on the Odyssey today, made up of slides of Greek artwork of the scenes. Well, mainly Greek - there were a couple of Roman pieces of sculpture. The class seemed to enjoy it. There are things that I don't realise that they don't know.

I had a slide of a coin with Odysseus and Argos on it, and I gave a brief rundown of what happened between those two, and I was surprised at the number of people who either didn't know, or were affected by my retelling of the story. I was more surprised, however, at the amount of surprise at how graphically the Greeks depicted the blinding of Polyphemus. It's just something I've never really thought about. It was gory and Homer told us about it. Nothing much more to it than that.

However, considering their reactions to the slide I had of Odysseus fighting the suitors (who were naked), I'm really rather glad that I didn't find any of the more pornographic artwork around from that time period that it available. The class would've rioted, when I think about some of the slides we were shown in Greek Society, I think it was. Or those that the art history students got to see. A wee bit graphic for sixteen and seventeen year olds, I think.

Anyways, I think I'll go start writing again. Have to transfer some stuff first.
