Summer time, when the weather is hot

Sometimes, Wellington has a good imagination. Right now, it's pretending to be summer. For the last week or so, we have had weather more like what you'd expect in January than November/December.

So here, have some photos:

No idea what this plant is called, but the bees quite like it. There's a pink one as well.

And a bee on the pink one. I really like how this photo turned out.

Poppies in our garden. Lots of colours (but no red ones).

The view out over the roof from near the washing line.

Tomorrow, we go down to mingle with the crowds at the Thorndon Fair.

Oh. Thank you. My eyes get so hungry for color this time of year.

Wellington is always green, so there's some colour around even in winter. That being said, it's nice to have blue skies at the moment.

We have a lot of evergreens here near Seattle, too, but that's not the same as having flowers [g].

No. But I think I miss blue skies and sunshine more in winter, anyhow. The worst is when it's grey and still and is dark when you leave the house in the morning and dark by the time you leave work in the afternoon.

Still, it ended up being sunny today (even if the cloud and the wind have set in again now) and I mangaged not to get burned too badly at the fair.

Yeah, we go from 16 hours of daylight in June to 8 hours of it in December. Most of the latter is gray and gloomy, too. But I don't even much care for December sunshine when we get it because the sun is so low in the sky. Esp. driving in any direction but north, it's like driving into a perpetual sunset.

I'm just counting the days till Solstice, when the days start getting longer again [g].

*northern hemisphere envy* Hot summertime sounds lovely. Don't listen to me complaining in August.

This is early hot summertime for us - we don't usually get this for another month or two.

I was complaining it was too hot yesterday. Perfect bbq weather though. The wind has picked up today, so it's a bit cooler.
