OMG MOVING IN TEN HOURS

And I totally used the shift key rather than capslock to type the title. Habit, I guess. I really need an OMG I'M MOVING icon, but since I don't have one, and I like my new one, that'll have to do.
My plan for this evening, after I got home from work, involved a 1.5L of Coca Cola, takeaways, ice cream, fanfiction, and packing. Well, I've had all of those, but there was more besides.
mashugenah dropped by and kindly volunteered to take me and a load of things up to the new place. Which means Garden Verses is now hanging above the fireplace, and the kenwood mixer is sitting on the bench in the kitchen, since I couldn't decide where it should go, and the litter tray is filled and in the bathroom, ready for the cat. Thanks Mash!
After, I came home, bringing the vaccum cleaner box with me, which I have since used to pack kitchen stuff in, ate dinner, drank coke, watched
anschee sort some of her files, and avoided packing some, mainly by reading fanfiction and eating ice cream, and picking up the cat carrier from
darthsappho. Then
house_monkey dropped around, with an offer of help for tomorrow morning (welcomed, but not actually necessary) and watched the cat do what she does, and me running around doing a (apparently) fairly poor imitation of a chicken with its head cut off. See, I'm quite happy panicking - as long as I have everything under control. And I pretty much do.
Then the real change to the evening came.
maudlinrose called to say that the movers would need to be paid in cash, not through an invoice as she previously thought, and omg, could I please go into town and get some money out to pay them? So I caught the 10.03pm bus into town, and since the 10.15pm from town was running 15 minutes late (thank God for the Mairangi), I managed to do a quick turn around and come home earlier than I expected.
I really am almost packed. I have one, maybe two more boxes, and one of them will have pillows and stuff, and I can't pack those until the morning, because hey, I need to sleep on them tonight. The computer is the last thing getting packed tonight. I imagine I can sleep without music for one night.
But reading
maudlinrose and
jessikast's posts from earlier this evening is making me think about the three and a half years that I've lived here, and even more distantly about the six months that I lived in Newtown. I'm not sure how many flatmates I've had, but I'll try and make a list, since only one of them reads my lj anyway, and I'm not going to use her real name.
Newtown was only three people - Anna, Rachelle, and Shannon. I think I've known about an equal number of guys and girls called Shannon. Shannon at Newtown was a guy. Shannon who I work with is a girl. I'm never sure what gender someone is just from that name.
Harbour View Road, not in chronological order, with something I really remember about them
Hamish - had a broken ankle when I moved in
Nia - did crossstitch
Mikayla - used to own Jemima
James - tall, thin, blond?
Jake - moved to Tauranga to get married
Leanne - used to go out and get drunk at weekends
Craig - computer geek
Robbie - omfg Robbie=grossiest flatmate
Fiona - moved back to Nelson
Rachel - moved to Levin with boyfriend, planted geraniums
Steve Brassel - the weird one who did wrestling
Steve Gordon - has freak outs over dishes, dates Siren, who is lovely
anshee - friend, heaps of fun
Cameron - works nights, kinda antisocial, smokes
Yvonne and Marcus - the neat freaks who made off with my good non-serrated knife
Bruce - had the dog, Ishtar
Damien - ex-geography teacher, just back from the UK
Nathan - did a masters in something to do with management
Mike - yelled over my questioning placement of stuff in the kitchen, moved in at the same time as Leanne
Mary - rather bland, didn't stay long, don't really remember her
Theresa - Craig's girlfriend, don't remember her
K... - goth, apparently, don't remember his name
I think that's everyone.
And now I go to flat with C. and
maudlinrose. I think I might clear up some of the mess on the floor now and do as much of the rest of my packing as I can.
