Had a great day yesterday and today. I was in a really good mood all day, and I was organised, and it was just fun. Such a difference from last year, when I only had a few people to visit, and spent a lot of the day on my bed. But then, I was recovering from an operation last year, so it's quite understandable that I was in a completely different mind set.
Anyway. A listing of people who came, because they expressed interest. Alessan,
anschee, C.,
darthsappho,
jessikast,
lyraethe,
mashugenah,
maudlinrose and myself, of course. Alessan gave me this awesome card with a minature woven carpet on the front and vouchers for both Goldings and Bizzy Bees (I'm drooling over a particular blackwork book now).
jessikast and
maudlinrose gave me a tea set -
gorgeous tea pot, milk jug, two cups and two saucers, and of course, C. took me to the World of Wearable Art Awards last Saturday. Grandma and Granddad B. mailed me a card and $20.
The tea pot is so pretty. It is a lovely red/brown/copper colour, and is big and round. Holds four cups. The cups, saucers, and milk jug are all white and simple, which is also quite lovely. Since I had $25 in vouchers from Living and Giving from my 21st, I went out today and bought two more cups and saucers, so I now have four. They didn't have any sugar pots or tea strainers, which annoyed me. Service wasn't as bad as
maudlinrose had, but if I have an idea of what I'm after, I tend to be more assertive in stores, anyhow. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good... it was just blah. Don't like shopping there. Don't feel welcome there.
So I have a nice set now, and even used it this evening, and it just felt so
civilised, which reminds me of what Aral says to Cordelia in
Shards of Honor about carrying ones civilisation on the inside. And even though
maudlinrose will laugh, I bought a Richard Harris CD with the money from Grandma and Granddad B. (Yes, I have Gran and Granddad A, and Grandma and Granddad B, and it's all to do with the letter their surnames start with. Really.) I have been listening to that and Handel's
Messiah today, and I like both of them.
Also, crossstitch frame from my parents works well. Heavier than what I'm used to, but so much easier to tighten or loosen fabric. I have work tomorrow. I should go to bed soon...
