My phone is still not working. However, [livejournal.com profile] house_monkey has kindly loaned me his handset, so I am actually contactable on the usual number. I am going to talk to my parents about insurance tomorrow night.

In other news, flatmate C has decided not to take on the lease here, so I suddenly have more work to do with arranging leaving. We were given a nice list recently of things that need doing before we leave, and really, gardening and mowing the lawns? We don't have lawns to mow, and gardening? I suppose I could weed, but I'm so not doing the bank.

I plan to do more packing type things tomorrow, such as the scarves on my wall, and winter clothing, and the remaining posters, and possibly even take up random things like framed crossstitches and stuff. Plan to buy a vaccum cleaner tomorrow, too. I refuse to take the one here, since I cannot stand it, and it's too old to handle vaccum cleaner bags.

Played in Lace & Steel last night, and in the Earthdawn game tonight. It took me a little while to adapt, but I eventually got over the whole diplomatic manners thing, and became the healer who hits things (really the weaponsmith who heals, but who cares?), and we got out of the labyrinth. So that one went well. Isthian, on the other hand, after being deliriously happy for an entire two days, has been brought back down to earth, and is once again in an angsting mass.

Work has been quite busy, not helped by the fact that it has been remarkably hot lately, and that makes things harder. I am looking forward to having moved, if only because it frees up my time and energy to hunt for a new job.

Moving

So I finally called my parents tonight about my phone, and they're convinced I have the insurance details. I'm sure that they didn't actually send it to me. Unfortunately, the file that it's in if I have it, is packed, and it's quite remarkable the number of boxes I have marked filing. Filing includes anythingn from random scraps of paper, old uni notes, hardcopy writing of mine, t-col stuff, and so on. I don't think I'm going to find it until I unpack, which fortunately, isn't too far away.

Bought a vaccum-cleaner and took some things up to the flat today. When I say things, I mean a few books (since I've been working my way through the Vorkosigan series completely out of order) and most of my framed pictures. Garden Verses still has to go up, and most of the posters, but I'm getting sorted and feel relatively under control. I imagine I'm going to end up with a box labelled 'stuff' which is all those bits and pieces I haven't packed yet because they're either small and bitsy or I think I might need them.

We have had electrians here today. There are now lights in that work easily in the hallway (both sets) and an outside light. It is most impressive, and really, the place does seem rather dingy with them all on. They weren't able to wire within the walls, so there are white plastic casings covering the wires. They stand out somewhat against the blue of the walls. The electricians weren't exactly sure why the wiring still worked, since it fell apart in their hands.

I'm rather glad I'm moving. I'm under control with the packing, aside from the stuff, and things seem to be going well.
