No one noticed the cat
Oct. 31st, 2007 10:23 pmHave bought a few books recently and another shelf for the punga bookcase. The shelf is currently drying and the books are sitting on my desk. I managed to pick up one of the reprints of Jinx High by Mercedes Lackey (and I suppose I should really get the rest of the Diana Tregarde books now) secondhand, The Merlin Conspiracy by Diana Wynne Jones, the best Mills&Boon out of this lot - Steamy Surrender by Ally Blake, which has a totally misleading title and Time of the Eagle by Sherryl Jordan, which is a sequal to Secret Sacrament, one of the more bittersweet books I've read. It's sad yes, but at the same time, it's triumphant. Time of the Eagle is about the daughter of the main character in Secret Sacrament, who was born after he died.
We bought plants before we did groceries tonight: a tea tree for
tamarillow, a sunset-coloured daisy for
maudlinrose and a flax/shrub for me. We have even planted them all.
tamarillow also found a couple of baby rats in the compost while getting dirt out for planting. We gave each of the cats one. Jemima ate hers - or at least, it hasn't made a reappearance. We thought that Tobias ate his, but no, he just left it lying somewhere and eventually brought it inside to play with. Whereupon I was called upon to do something with it (seeing as
maudlinrose had gone to bed) and threw it up the bank, followed by the cat. I hope Jemima finds it; at least she will kill it relatively quickly.
They were very cute baby rats though. They had all their fur but their ears were only just opening and their eyes were still closed. They were about the size of adult mice but moved much more slowly.
Having reached the half way point on Jenny Craig's, I am now doing two days a week by myself with all my own food and everything. Tomorrow is the first of those days. I should really work out what I'm going to eat properly and then make my lunch. I hope the cereal that's been in my desk drawer at work for quite a while hasn't gone stale.
