Kei te whiti te rā. I wish.
Jan. 5th, 2019 07:02 pmFriday was a sunny day, for what felt like the first time since before Christmas. Consequently, yesterday I felt relatively normal and it carried over to yesterday (although the weather was grey). I had enough energy to Do Things. So I have now completed and handed in two of my three Te Reo Māori assessments (aural and oral), with just the written left to go and ten days before the final due date.
the_eggwhite and I saw Mary Poppins Returns last weekend, which I generally enjoyed, although it took a while for me to get into it and I struggled to turn off the cynical part of my brain (this was also an issue when rewatching Paddington recently). We went to see Aquaman last night which was incredibly cheesy and fun and I was flapping my hands, trying not to laugh too loudly at Arthur's costume at the end. The grump part of my brain mostly managed to stay turned off, apart from the bit where I totally agreed with one of Prince Orm's actions. Unexpectedly spotted a friend's name in the credits, which was nice and the unexpected part is more to do with me having been out of Wellington and not realising Weta had been involved because he is someone it totally makes sense to be involved in this film.
Will see about brain/energy levels today. Kei te rangi kōruki [An overcast day]. The aim to go to Woking to scout the location of the Martian tripod from War of the Worlds for a calendar photoshoot, I need to do a menu plan for the week, we need to take down the Christmas tree, cook te kai for tonight and do prep for ngā kai on Tuesday when I have some woman friends around. I have a swede the size of my head to use up (approx 1.8kg) and so I am planning to make a double recipe of this swede laksa recipe. I might vary it a little: that's a lot of swede.
[One of the things I managed to institute last year which I'm particularly pleased about that I've arranged and have dinner every few weeks with three of my close woman friends. We're all busy people and two of them have to factor in their small people in arrangements. They tend to come here, I supply the main and they take turns with wine, dessert and a side. Frequency ranges from once every couple of weeks to once a month<&mdash>the aim is no less than that. So far, it's been working well.]
[I need to find a new range of icons, these are all me from years ago.]
