Food and other domestic issues

nishatalithaBut for the state of my bedroom, I would feel alarmingly domesticated. We Did Stuff today. We pulled the tires out from under the hydrangas and put one on either side of our kitchen stairs, and planted herbs in them.
Full of enthusiasm, we attacked the hydrangas with the kitchen scissors and a craft knife. We didn't quite realise just how far over the patio they had grown. I knew, technically, because the foot wide garden just doesn't get any wider, but I hadn't realised just how much of a difference it would make having them cut back and sweeping out under the bushes would make. We have an extra metre or so of space all along - or we will once we get rid of all the clippings.
We're planning to compost it. To make things easier, we're stripping the flowers and leaves off all the clippings, composting that part, and putting the rest into the rubbish. We have a list of herbs that we want for the garden. There are a couple of old cinder blocks that we'll put some into, and then we'll use teracotta pots for the rest.
We also made a roast for dinner, with apple crumble to follow. We even did the dishes afterwards! And C. bought a breadmaker today, so we christened it by making cinnamon and rasin bread, which will go nicely with the shredded chicken from the roast. There are a few vegetables left, and some stuffing. There will be chicken pie for dinner tomorrow night (lunch for me on Tuesday, since Lace & Steel is Mondays), and we made a vague list of what we were planning for dinner this week. I was thinking red meat, but am now thinking about kidney beans.
I will probably be equally domestic tomorrow, and then go to Lace & Steel. At some point along the way, I should probably work out what Isthian is going to do. At the moment, she has no idea, and neither do I.
