Burn, baby, burn
Aug. 19th, 2005 10:41 pmMy brother has just informed me that he has just been playing fire soccer, fire sticks, fire breathing, and fire juggling. Now, I can understand the last three, but fire soccer? Apparently, you make a ball out of old rags and chicken wire, soak it in kerosene, set it on fire, and play. A slow burn, he said, and they were responsible. Oh yes, and they were testing their potato gun and it blew itself into two parts. Minor injuries from the soccer, but full safety precautions and no damage from the potato gun.
Also, he is taking the potato gun up to Hamilton in his bag (to hunt possums with), and doesn't anticipate any problems with airport security. Apparently, it doesn't look dangerous. In two parts.
Sounds like he moved to Dunedin, from all I've heard. I'm meeting up with him tomorrow, since he's flying from Christchurch to Hamilton, and has a two hour layover in Wellington. I figure I'll take him out to lunch in Kilbirnie, since sticking around Wellington airport for two hours gets boring and expensive really quickly.
Am reading Smallville fic again, hunting for this one fic where Lex loses his memory, ends up in Gotham, organising street gangs. I want to reread it, and I can't remember where I found it. So I'm currently hunting through the dozen or so recs pages I've been reading, looking for it. And being distracted with other fic. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing.
Saw C. on the bus, since I finished late, due to a late allocation and general insanity from the Qualmark Inspection next week, and her finishing early due to university holidays. We both bought dinner from Burger Wisconsin and hung out here for a bit. Then she went home to read, and I watched TV before reading online. I am considering going to bed at a reasonable time tonight (ie. when I normally do, shortly after midnight), because I am actually somewhat tired.
Lace and Steel begins on Monday with a sort of character gen. session, but more of "sanity check and icebreaker". There'll be some information on various characters. I'm not sure how much detail I'm suppoed to go into about Isthian. C. knows a lot, but then, C. isn't playing. I know most of the people playing, assuming I have names and faces right. I'm not worried, or anxious. Not really. Gamers, for the most part, are nice people, and we have common interests. Too much talk of Shadowrun is a bit overwhelming, but I'm used to that with various people. It's just. This is my first campagin that isn't being run by A., or involving Creswick Tce. people, and I don't quite know how I'll fit in another group, the members of which I don't know that well. And they're probably all reading this and wondering what I'm going on about, so I'll shut up now. But social dynamics. They're important.
Also, I am rather loving Era, Wilson Phillips, Hoku, and The Church of the various bands that I got off Alessan. Particularly Era. I have been deleting a few things, mainly Weird Al stuff that I don't like the originals of (which I don't have).
And now, back to the fic.
