For the first time in quite a while, I actually got to church this morning. The sermon was on how Jesus got himself crucified by eating and drinking, which is to say, he got himself crucified because of the people he ate and drank with; that is, by being inclusive. It was an interesting take.

Then I went and bought "stuff:

A new laser USB mouse because my non-USB one kept sticking
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Dymocks even gave me a pretty purple bag, despite my lack of a pre-order*
Milk
Saiyuki season 2
A trashy Mills&Boon for [livejournal.com profile] tamarillow since she's been sick.

Have now read Harry Potter. It was better than the previous one or two, I thought, and the epilogue was terrible. But I quite enjoyed it and it is entirely possible that I will reread it.

Saw Tales from Earthsea yesterday. It was good (done by Studio Ghibli, so not surprising), but not what I expected. I now have a desire to reread the books to see how much of it matches up. The last time I read the books was nearly ten years ago, so my memory is pretty vague on this now.

LARP work is going well. We kinda need people to play it in, so it might actually end up being a non-costume larp, which will work, just won't be as pretty. Would still like to run it more than once, I think.

The new mouse is very responsive and that feels quite strange. But it hasn't stuck yet and it's so nice not having it stick on links and on nothing at all. I really hope my problems with the old one were in the connection and not actually in the computer.

The lawnmowever dude cut down our garden opposite the kitchen. We're all really upset about this, since it clearly was a garden - there were still flowers on some of the bloody plants, for instance, like the lavender. And no one else cut it down. Have called the landlords and complained and she said she'd give the company a call tomorrow and give them a good what-for.

I should probably get some study done, but Saiyuki! And there's Northanger Abbey on TV this evening. I will vaccum now though. The floor in my room looks rather horrible. Have to do some mending, too. I wonder how you darn things...

*I've never pre-ordered one of the Harry Potter books yet and didn't plan to start with this one
