Spent most of the week feeling tired and lethargic, particularly at work (only managed to get to the gym twice) but somehow recovered energies for today.
Had an awesome day at the Ultimate development tournament out in Palmerston North, save for the bit towards the end of the third game when I was courting heat stroke just a little too closely for comfort. But a rest in the shade, yet more water, some food and some of
knightclubbing's glucose electrolyte stuff made a huge difference and the following game, I felt, was our best.
Got two fantastic catches today, both of the running and catching with one outstretched hand type. One was even a layout onto my knees! I feel very pleased with myself. Overall, my play was pretty solid. I was happy with my cutting and and general throwing/catching, particularly the forehands. Of course, I missed a few catches I would have liked to get, but they pale in comparison to the two I actually caught. I tried out the handler position and felt that it suited me quite well.
I was generally really impressed with how everyone played. I felt we played as a team, not as a collection of individuals on the same side. People mostly remembered that there are ten seconds before a stall and waited until the right time to throw.
Now, of course, I feel utterly wasted; this occured pretty much as soon as I was half way through the wonderful shower I had when I got home, and am going to make a mug of hot chocolate, find my cat and retire to bed with a book. I am not going to the gym tomorrow.
The flatmates had dinner pretty much ready when I got home (baked good fish, wedges and salad) which saved me from the vague plan I had of asking one of them to go down to the fish&chip shop for me. It was really good and appreciated. Ate a teaspooon of mustard straight from the jar and decided that while I like whole-grain mustard, it really does need a little bread to complement it. Finished up the day with a good phone call from my Mum and new fic on the internets.
