Well, despite the fact that since I got home at 6.30pm (having caught the 5.45pm bus up from Courtney Pl.), I have put a blanket over my window (and put more masking tape over possible gaps), an old duvet cover over the doors into the lounge and an old curtain over the door into the hallway, and having had the heater on for ages, my hands are still going numb.

And the curtain and the duvet are the only ones that move in the wind.

There is something wrong with that picture.

I have been at St. Catherine's for two days now, and it seems an alright school. It's small - about 250 students, and the staff is also small. I can catch a No. 12 all the way through, though, so that is good.

As a result of all these bus trips, I have almost finished Suzanne Aubert's biography. It is proving to be of some interest.

I have not yet done the first part of my Into. to Catholicism assignment which was due last Wednesday. Considering there's one or two weeks to go, I should probably get to work on it.

I haven't had the chance to write much lately - I should really be making my lunch and heading to bed NOW, but the lure of the internet and my computer, which I haven't touched since Sunday is proving to be too much.

I was squeeeing on Sunday, though. My parents are going to the US in September, and Mum has decided that she hasn't seen me since Christmas (true), and that since there are a whole lot of family gatherings on in November, she probably won't see me until then, has volunteered to fly me up before they go away. That will probably be the weekend of the fifth. And seeing as it's my Dad's parents Golden Wedding Anniversary in November, they've also volunteered to fly me up for that. *bounces*

I need to work out a pretty gold crossstitch (possibly with beading) to make for them. maudlinrose's birthday present may be interrupted for that. But I've finished a quarter of that, anyhow. And it's my other Grandad's 75th birthday this year, and it's being held in Hastings, so I might get to go up for that. Heck, Black Knight might even come.

I am writing a CV at the moment. I have a picture, but I would like a prettier one. I'm not very good at prettying pictures, and that one wasn't that good to start off with. Edgazette doesn't have any that really suit me, save the one at Wellington Coll., only that starts on Oct. 18, being a maternity leave position and all. I think I should finish my training first.

Since A. might actually use it for his website.

We were in Parlainth, waiting for Rhyanna, Tash and Ruric the insane Horror-stalker to return after killing the poor Orc, at the end of the last session.

Trent went and scouted on ahead, but when he didn't return after about 10 minutes (since Gr. was away), Ruric rolled tracking, and followed him. We managed to avoid most traps and went in the right direction (north), and followed his tracks. We saw that he'd been captured when he was surrounded by masses of footprints, and taken away. We keep following.

We had an option of going over an overbridge (where the tracks went) or down and around. We chose to keep following the tracks, and found out that a section of the overbridge was missing in the middle. We could manage to get around this by jumping a three metre gap to a building nearby, and then jumping from the building onto the other side. At least, that's the theory.

It's good that Ruric went across first, because the rest of us rolled really badly, and both Cyric and myself ended up going through a window of the building each in order to avoid being splattered on its face. Unfortunately, when we did this, we managed to raise a nest of ghouls. We hadn't been entirely stupid. We all had ropes tied around us, and I tried to climb back up mine. One of the ghouls coughed on me, and I felt sick. I continued flinging myself back out the window, though, and climbed up the rope.

With Cyric hanging onto my tail. I wasn't terribly impressed with this.

Still, we got up. Tash flew the rope across to the other side of the overbridge, and the rest of us fought ghouls off. Since I linked my crystal sword, Norfressa, to both myself and melee weapons, I have D20 + D6 to roll to hit, I did quite a lot of armour piercing damage. I'm starting to understand what it was like for Zen-sai. It was fun hitting the ghouls, and Rhyanna removed the poison from me.

Cyric went across next, forcing a break in the fighting to do so. He wasn't feeling so good, anyhow, having been whaled on a little. I didn't take tooo much damage. Most of my 30 something damage and 1 wound was from the last session. Anyhow, Cyric took more than one round to get across, due to poor rolling (again, we all had to get a 4), and Rhyanna, Ruric and I continued to fight the ghouls. By this time, although Ruric and I had killed quite a few between us, there were about 14 ghouls on the roof, so we were all surrounded.

When Cyric was across, it was Rhyanna's turn to try. Much like when we were trying to get to Lao-Seng's monastary across that awful bridge, it took several tries, and more rounds of combat. We did knock a few off the roof, but Ruric and I ended up surrounded by half a dozen each, with one in between our two groups, wanting to cough on us.

I tried out my Fourth Circle talents of Parry, then Riposte, and used them to some effect. I'll shove them both up soon, so they'll be even better. The rounds went something like this: I attacked, killed or almost killed a ghoul. The ghouls attacked, occasionally got through our guard and armour. Parry. Riposte. Ruric attacks the ghouls. Cyric attacks. Rhyanna attacks. Tash attacks. And then it starts again.

Rhyanna summoned a monster, part incorporeal, called Carnage, which came and scared off the rest of the ghouls. I killed the one most in my way, and took a couple of rounds to go across on the rope. We then called Ruric (and found out that Rhyanna hadn't managed to Bind Carnage), took a moment to heal up a little - and I threw a rock at a ghoul on the wall, and hit him for 26 points of damage. You could kill them for 36, so he fell off the wall.

And then back we went in search of Lao-Seng and Trent. We found the pit that Ruric and Cyric had seen Lao-Seng get dragged down into, and went down into it. It was dark, but we'd prepared for this. Three of us had quartz lanterns, and I had Norfressa, with her core of Elemental Fire.

We were more or less promptly surrounded by cadavermen. A few hundred, give or take a dozen or so. They took our weapons off us - Norfressa - and they escorted us to before the throne of Twice-Born, a T'Skrang cadaverman. She would've been cute if she was still alive. I think Trent thought she was cute regardless. But then, I've heard stories about him and the Queen of the Blood Elves.

She wanted the Butterspider, which, after the mages were gagged (apart from Cyric, who dresses like a nobleman, not an Illusionist), after Ruric was gagged, blindfolded, forced down onto his knees and held there by four cadavermen, and I was hit over the head, she got off Rhyanna. She thought we'd stolen it or something. I'm sorry to see it go. It was useful, but not worth our lives.

Trent and Lao-Seng were brought out. Carried out, really. Trent was also gagged, tied, and blindfolded. Hardly surprising. Lao was unconscious. We made our farewells to Twice-Born and went back to the surface. I collected our weapons off the cadaverman spokesperson, and we got another sack that contained Lao's.

Ruric carried Lao and Trent (Gr. got back) carried the weapons. Carnage escorted us to the laneways, as we decided to return that way, rather than go through the Twists again. As we entered into the laneways, Trent and I were hit by a blinding panic, and ran away, Cyric and Tash collapsed, Ruric turned into a homicidal maniac - not that much different from usual - and Rhyanna turned into a power-hungry megolmaniac. She upgraded Carnage and Ruric went to fight him - barehanded.

Eventually Cyric woke up and took Tash out of there, and Carnage threw both Rhyanna and Ruric out. Trent dashed back in to get Lao and Ruric's Prince-axe. I picked up Rhyanna and we kept moving. We got out of Parlainth and back into Haven without too much more incident.

We took Lao-Seng to a temple (tent) of Garlen, and healed up a little. Tash healed me proper, which was nice, and we all took the time to upgrad our weapons some more. I have two threads to Norfram (my chain-mail), one to me, and one to my defense at rank one, and one thread to my gaunlets, which will affect how much damage I do at higher levels.

Lao woke up in a couple of days, after they'd made an antidote for the poison in him. He didn't seem terribly happy to see us, but was quite prepared to use our services to help find Kasia. Apparantly, they've gone to another continent. He said we had to enlist the aid of old friends. Trent thought he was talking about the Vampire and his Weaponsmith friend - I always forget their names - and I thought he meant the Blood Elves. And then he mentioned the other continent.

Trent and I went along to see Vardigil, and asked about the Heaven's Lance. We found that it was outside of A'si'kila, a floating city we'd been to before - with Blake. It was currently about four days hard ride away, so we packed up, and leaving at dawn, went as quickly as possible to the nearest city, whereupon Cyric used his noble connections (I think he has a dutchy or something) to send a note that might get us up there.

It worked, so we're currently waiting for the diplomatic boat.

It's still pretty cold in here - my fingers are mostly numb. I'm going to get a drink of water and go to bed.
