nishatalithaWell, I'm at the university library now, putting off going through Mana magazines in the hope that they will inspire me for the lesson that I'm teaching second period tomorrow. How does one make traditional Maori religion and spirituality interesting, and convey this in a creative way.
I'm feeling somewhat bitter towards St. Cath's at the moment. I realise that I'm going to be a first year teacher next year, and that I'm going to be judged by first year standards and all that. But it feels a bit like C. is throwing me off the deep end, without any suggestions on how to make things more interesting until afterwards. And if I don't improve, I'll fail this TE. So, stress piles on, and as soon as I get to school in the morning, I start hurting, which does absolutely nothing for my teaching, and then I get comments on my lack of voice projection and classroom presence.
Went to dinner at C.'s last night for her birthday. It was an interesting evening, filled with much discussion. I don't think I was quite as involved as I would be normally, because of all the stuff with my TE. I spent most of yesterday online searching for ideas that might help. Nothing doing.
C. mentioned that until she read The Tombs of Atuan (Ursula le Guin), the second in the Earthsea series, that she hadn't realised that the main characters on the otherside of the world were black. Black Knight chipped in with a similar comment about the royal house of Manticore in David Weber's Honor Harrington series. And today I read a similar style book (Noughts and Crosses), about racial discrimination, but one where the white people were getting discriminated against. It was a bittersweet sad book, but I liked it. Melodramatic and angsty in places, though.
I have been playing the Herculympic's that Jessikast gave the link to a while back. I now have five silvers, and all of those were gained without completing the last game. I have jumped all four fences a total of five times. That's five times between the four fences, not five times each. I am yet to improve.
I should really get a move on with my schoolwork. I would like to hang out with Black Knight tonight (if possible) and tidy my disgustingly messy room if not. I guess that's my cue to open Word...
