Still avoiding my work. Looked over my recent entries thing, and realised that I hadn't updated from last Monday night. For those of you who actually read these posts, and for A., who might use them or not as he pleases, but is a good entertaining GM anyways.

So, Banefyr: Session Three

We arrived in the Barsavian city below A'si'kila, and Cyric arranged for passage up, for ourselves and our horses. We arrived into the Diplomatic area, and found a reasonable inn called The Silver Swan. It's a Guild inn, so it's not cheap, but it was nice.

Cyric and I cleaned ourselves up a bit more, and headed towards the docks to find the Heaven's Lance. It wasn't hard to find her. For some reason, a big white ship, with air cannons on the side and an unusual aura tends to make other ships cringe away. Cyric gave his name to the guards, but didn't get to see Captain Blake. I then had a go, but had absolutely no luck. He informed me that none of us were ever allowed back on the ship.

Cyric got a note later that night, telling him to go to a bar called the Pirates Cove. Ruric went with him, and the rest of us staked out positions outside. Rhyannna and I waited inside the brothel opposite. I did pay for occupying the chairs with the best view of the street. Still, I don't think they were so keen on me. No bodies came flying out of the tavern, so the newcomers must have handled themselves acceptably.

When they meet back with us, Cyric informed us that Blake wanted to see 1,000 gold in front of him if he was even going to consider our venture. We pooled our resources, and including the 250 gold that Ruric had given him, and the 50g of Cyric's, we actually had enough without having to sell anything. We were at the Heaven's Lance within the hour alloted to us, and Blake was rather surprised that we had managed to raise the money.

It took some effort, but between us, we managed to talk Blake into taking us there. The promise of new loot, objects that would be of untold rarity over here, even if they were common to the new continent, were what clinched the deal. He had sole rights to what we found there (except for Kasia, and items that we might need to obtain her), and he wanted our help with the merchantship that was going to be leaving at dawn, and rumoured to carry 1,000 gold on her. Blake also gave his alive crew the option of staying or leaving, since we were off on a crazy mission.

This sorted, we all left to collect our gear. We weren't leaving until midnight, so Cyric had enough time to go back down to the city, and entrust his very expensive horse into the care of another noble there. I sold mine, and so did the rest of us. I can pick up a decent bad-tempered riding horse practically anywhere. Rhyanna summoned (and bound) Carnage at a lower power level before we left, and Ruric wore himself out fighting him.

I have to say, the merchantman wasn't quite the easy pickings that we had been led to believe. She was wary of Blake, and his fake distress signal. And then they opened fire upon us with their cannons. Not fire cannons, which the Heaven's Lance carries, but ordinary ones. Trent got out his Elven Warbow, and shot the man in the crowsnest. I was impressed.

Eventually, we got close enough attach ourselves to her with grappling hooks. Ruric went over and so did I. With my new levels of power, I wasn't really trying to hurt anyone. Ruric was using the flat blade of his axe, but that's not good for Norfressa, and so I only hit each of them once. Wounded them, generally. And hit them back hard if they hit me.

Trent went belowdecks, as did Cyric. I fought my way over to where the Captain and his mates were, trying to get them to surrender. Aboard the Heaven's Lance, Tash and Rhyanna set the broken leg of a young man who had been tossed there by Carnage. When Carnage started dropping people overboard to see what would happen, I thought it was getting a bit much.

The Captain wouldn't surrender unless Carnage left. I agreed to this (as Carnage finished beating a sailor's brains out against the wall), and just as I was going to call to Rhyanna to banish him, she did. Lovely coincidence of timing, that.

Trent had found a young woman, mid twenties, with a strange pattern. She was the cargo, evidently, and she was wearing some sort of leather strait-jacket that bound her arms together, and a black leather mask that only had a small mouth hole. She also appeared to be unconscious. Blake grabbed her and took her back to our ship. We robbed the captain, waited for Cyric to join us from starting a slave revolt down in the hold, and we all went back to the Heaven's Lance. Before the two ships cast off each other, Tash healed as many as she could.

We had to reprovision, and I spent a lot of the next couple of weeks with my ghostmaster, becoming Fifth Circle, and gaining some of those talents. I finally have Second Weapon (which I promptly took up to rank 4), and I promptly linked my short-sword, which I'd been carrying around for about five years now, to that talent and to me. My short-sword is called Chesmira. So, I have Norfressa (my crystal sword beauty), Chesmira (my faithful short-sword), Norfram (my magical chain-mail), and Krashnark (my magical gauntlets). All of these have at least one rank two thread, and in most cases more than one.

I spent all my legend points at once. I have to start saving up to up another atribute, though. Possibly strength. Or toughness. Or perception or willpower (my two worst).

The young lady woke up. I can't remember what her name is just now, but she came from a world without magic, couldn't remember much about her life, and there was only one Namegiver species. And they hadn't even Named themselves! And there's something funny about how magic works on her, too. Rhyanna and Tash both tried, and Tash nearly collapsed both times. Weird.

We spent a lot of time discussing this, and eventually, after consulting with Captain Blake, we decided to take her mask off. Hopefully it comes off easily enough - it's sealed with magic.

End Session.

Next update hopefully on Tuesday.
