World of Darkness Chronicles: Winter Wolf
Apr. 5th, 2005 12:01 amWow! I'm updating on the day the game was played!
And I still can't believe it. We robbed the Vatican!

We caught Chelsea up on what we were doing once we were at the new hotel. Mid-afternoon, a note was delievered to us, inviting us to the private lounge for 9.15pm. Since this was a formal meeting and Hilda and I hadn't brought appropriate clothing with us, the three of us (Hilda, Anna and myself) went shopping. Damien hired himself a tux for the evening and disappeared to the bar as soon as we arrived and started getting ready. Wise man. Andre was never that sensible when I was getting ready for a fancy occasion, back when we were married.
We arrived at the bar slightly early and had a drink. Damien was betting with the bartender what Hilda would pay for her drink with - credit card or cash. It was cash. Legally, she's dead. She can't have a credit card.
We were announced and met with the head of the Family; the person who deals with the mortals. We confirmed each other's negociating powers and that we were after the blood of Dracula. He politely informed us that they would accept blood from one of our three most powerful genetically modified creatures (Nememis, the Tyrant or the Destroyer) or they would require us to obtain an item from somewhere they preferred not to go.
Chelsea explained exactly why they didn't want to let blood samples of any of those creatures out of Umbrella's possession. All of them still have the T-Virus in them. It's neutralised in Nemesis, but that's the most powerful, so not a chance there. However, it's still active in the other creatures which means that handing them over is a very bad idea. We decided that we'd rob the Vatican.
Fortunately, what the Giovanni Family were after wasn't in one of the vaults. They were after the original of the Da Vinci Codex, which is on display. It's kept in a hermatically sealed glass container, opened to a specific page, with the usual security measures for such an item, double layers of bullet proof glass, three inch thick titanium shell if something triggers it.
We put all teh resources we could command behind the operation, which meant it went relatively smoothly. Checked it out earlier and found that it wasn't warded. This meant that I could teleport in and get the Codex and with any luck, teleport out again in the three minutes before the guards arrived and suck 10 points of Paradox. We would use Isis on the Vatican and fry all their electronic equipment, getting rid of all the alarms and sensors. If the teleporting failed, we would drop in a Vulcan drill through the stained glass in the ceiling and have Damien and two UBCS guards drop in after it. Damien would set charges around the container to remove the glass while one of the guards drilled through the glass to weaken it and give me air, and the other one would shoot the guards who turned up. We would then take the Whisper and fly away. The two in the humvee would drive off, not having been noticed. Both parts of the team had some of the green goo on them in case of death through me sucking massive paradox.
It all went smoothly. I teleported in without a problem. Had slightly more trouble getting out and we ended up using the backup plan, which meant we assulted the Vatican, as opposed to merely robbing it. The irony is that I ended up less damaged this way than if Plan A had completely worked, since I didn't get an automatic 10 Paradox but merely 5. And with no backlash, that's easy enough to deal with.
The neat thing is, we left Damien's Toxic Pus t-shirt there, the one he got to blend into the goth club we went to in Nice. Apparently, one of the members of the Pentex team is the lead singer/guitarist of that band. It links Pentext there quite nicely, and failing that, an anarchist group affiliated to Toxic Pus.
We flew to Greece in the Whisper while Hilda and Anna went to the Giovanni Family and arranged for the exchange to take place elsewhere. We made a hasty copy of the Codex and handed it over in Turkey, while Anna and Hilda took the blood in Italy. Anna named it there; The Blood of the Dragon. When you hold it, you see scenes of Vlad killing Turkish foot soliders, cutting parts off and sticking them on stakes. Not a pleasant gentleman.
I took a 2 point Paradox flaw and spent a couple of days in first person shooter mode. This makes me feel nauseous. Going out shooting Vampires with Damien helped a little. We seriously began the search for the blade forged in sin. Umbrella is trying to track down the weapons of famous evil men. We decided that Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and Lenin were a bit too late for their swords to be directly associated with their evil. Gengis Khan works far better, but it's hard trying to get his sword. Same with Vlad Dracul (since Dracula probably still has it) and Caligula or any other evil Roman emperor. We also looked at finding Robbisperrie's guillotine, but we don't know if he used a specific one. Damien tried to convince us that Napoleon was evil, but I objected to that idea.
We also started looking for Jack the Ripper's blades. Which means we're going to England, to Umbrella HQ and trying to find them. We have to be relatively careful; Chelsea says that there are rumours that the monarchy had something to do with him. Also, the daughter of the CEO, Anya Ashford, has been following what we've been doing with a great deal of interest and will certainly want to meet us when we arrive and probably follow us around, making a nuisance of herself. She's apparently a competent, nosy sixteen-year old who gets just about anything she wants because of her name. It could go either way.
But... I did my first ever teleport and it was successful! And I didn't botch on the unsuccessful one.
...I still can't believe that we robbed the Vatican!
Next part here, not so exciting.
