Went to [livejournal.com profile] laputain's gig at Katipo last night. At least, I think it was last night. It was probably the night before, but that means I can't remember what I did last night. Oh, yes, that's right. I read some of the fic links that [livejournal.com profile] maudlinrose gave me and stayed up far too late.

I enjoyed the gig. It was nice actually hearing some of the songs I've seen lyrics to. I have trouble translating words into song without ever having heard it. [livejournal.com profile] laputain writes some great lyrics. As always, I enjoyed the two 'Stacy' songs she played, although for some time I've been under the impression that Weekend Witch was the second one in the cycle. Apparently it's not, which means I have to hear the middle one sometime. Also very much enjoyed World Without End. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling well at the end and then had to run for the bus, so I didn't appreciate the last songs as much as I would've liked.

Have been working with the new girls lately. I was with N., from ex-Yugoslavia, yesterday and the day before. She's about my mother's age, her eldest daughter is the same age as my brother and she keeps telling me to go and find a real job; that I shouldn't be wasting my life at the Bolton and she wouldn't want her daughters doing this work. I think N. said she was a judge back in Yugoslavia and she's been here for three months. N. was off today, so I was working with N., from Porirua, who is even newer (third day today). She's also very nice, but seems very young. Not sure how old she is, though.

Funniest thing that happened today - N. and I were finishing our last room and L., the supervisor, told me I was working tomorrow, that the roster had been changed. I panicked and didn't know when it had been changed, since I check it regularly. However, L. was talking through her (invisible) hat, and I'm not actually on tomorrow. This is a good thing, since I want to sleep in.

Am going over to Creswick Tce. later this evening to watch Bubba Ho Tep, because J. has it and wants to watch it. Seeing as my alternate plans for the evening include reading books and fanfiction and putting flannel sheets on my bed before sleeping, I think that would be fun.

I should be getting Hallowed Hunt next Wednesday.

...I love this piece of music.

Frank was there too (aka mundens on lj) or Mister Wolf from the LARP. Katipo does the best hot chocolate in town, specifically the Mega Hot Chocolate. And the day-time guy, Osh is an old school roleplayer. D&D is his main. Thinking about it also there's actually a lot of lj'ers who hang out at Katipo.

I got a book yesterday too, from that book depository place on Victoria St. Some short stories by Lovecraft, on the recomendation of Daniel the Goth. All I need to do now is look at the words and wait for them tomake pictures in my brain. It's too big tofit in my DVD drive :(

Wargs this Tuesday, don't think I'll be there though, not sure yet.

Yes, I saw F., though I forgot to mention it. He wrote a nice review that [livejournal.com profile] laputain linked to in her journal. Didn't try the hot chocolate, but the iced chocolate. [livejournal.com profile] maudlinrose had the hot chocolate. Also tried Monteiths Winter Beer, which was quite nice as well. I assume you mean roleplayers who keep a lj? Me, it was the first time I'd been there.

A book? I hold myself impressed. Not completely sure of the place you mean (the library, maybe?). Haven't read Lovecraft yet. I'll get there one day. If you read the words, they sink in and then you get pictures in your brain. At least, that's what happens to me at a rapid rate. Reading a book is as good as watching a movie, but it's a lot harder to see the fight scenes.

I'll be there. Day off, so I'll be nice and relaxed. I work Monday, see?

*bleerily* Have just changed sheets on bed so will go there now. Mmmm, flannel.

Yes LIBRARY that's the word for it. Someone had to tell me afterwards how long I could use it, I threw the receipt thingy away like all my other receipt thingies. Last time I had a book out from a library they still had date stamps and cards. Hmmm, now I feel old again.

I'm going job hunting again on Tuesday so if you're in town I can show you the Mega Hot Chocolate at Katipo if you like. I'll be basically all over town at some stage with no coherent plan yet.

I think I've given you my email, if you feel so inclined.

Oh, it's not just roleplayer lj'ers there either, at least 3 or 4 other wgtn lj'ers frequent it often.

It was very good, yes. Sometime when I am coherant, I'll recommend it to [livejournal.com profile] laputain and others. I think they'll like it. Half way through, I was sure I would have nightmares about bugs, but maybe not now.

Have you read Joss's speech about Serenity at the preview showing thingy? It's kinda cool. [livejournal.com profile] chickwithmonkey posted a link. I want to see Serenity. I think it comes out on my birthday. If that's the case, I so know what I'm doing for it this year.

Ahem.

The Geek Prince (me) sent the link to the Geek Knave (Paul), who then sent the link onto the Geek Fill-In-The-Appropriate-Female-Pronoun-To-Maintain-The-Analogy (chickwithmonkey) who then caused the Geek I'm-Not-Even-Going-To-Bother (you) to recommend it to me, in a vicious, vicious circle.

So, yes.

And be aware- VUWSF has been plotting for months to hijack an entire theatre, so that you and people like you may see Serenity amongst people who get it. Stay tuned for more details.

That would be Anastasia's Clone (http://www.daphnelawless.com/discography/anastasiasclone.txt). Buy a copy of Undinal Songs and listen to it. :)

The Doctor's coming, BYO ferret!!!
