Mary Poppins wasn't perfect
Sep. 8th, 2003 02:32 pmIn retrospect, I should have probably focused on my essay a lot more last night, instead of finishing it come four am and collapsing into bed. I almost decided to skip class today to sleep, but the cat was complaining, and I had to get up to feed her, then I couldn't go back to sleep.
For some reason, I keep thinking about Mary Poppins. It was on TV2 on Saturday nights, and in between breaks from pretending to write my essay, I watched some of it. It was a lot older and not as good as I remembered. The interaction between the animation and the actors - particularly in the fox hunt was good. But partially watching it this time round Mary Poppins seemed to be more and more like the character from the books that I remember reading, and less and less like someone I'd even want to know, let alone take care of me. It was interesting to note that she threatened the children with 'the police' and so on. I never liked the books that much, but now I'm finding that I like the movie a lot less. I would have to say that if he wasn't my favourite character anyway, Bert would definately become that.
I am very tired. I think I have found another crossstitch that I want to do. It's yet another Mirabilia one (big surprise) and it's called Maidens of the Seasons. I'm not so fond of Spring, but I like Summmer. But you can hardly do one seasonal one without doing them all, so I might wait until I see Autumn and Winter until I decide whether or not I want to do all of them. I would like to do Summer one day, regardless. Besides, it looks a lot more simple than the last ones I've done. There are beads, but only a small amount, and if I work on a larger size linen, I can get all the beads in the right place and stuff. You can find a picture here; it's #70, right at the top of the page.
I am planning to get my black linen for my dragon crossstich today. I hope it doesn't cost too much, because I think I need a lot. I have other things to do as well - like pay the power bill and whatnot.
