Comment and I'll pick three of your icons and three of your interests. Make a post explaining these.

This is one I picked up fairly recently from [livejournal.com profile] imbujold and is by [livejournal.com profile] iconsbycurtana. Lois McMaster Bujold is one of my favourite authors - ask anyone who's heard me talk about her - and this one tickled my funny bone. I haven't really settled on a use for this one yet, but I might well use it for cheesy things or Ultimate.

This is another one I picked up recently and I understand the text is actually from George R R Martin. Not sure where the picture is from. It's by [livejournal.com profile] sparrows_wings. I like it because it's pretty and cool. Sometimes I use it for what it says, sometimes I use it because I feel cool and distant and sometimes I use it because I just feel like it. I possibly should have made it my default because I often seem to use it, probably more than my default, but I like choosing to use it, so haven't.

I got this one quite a while ago, shortly after the first Pirates of the Carribean movie came out and I was reading a lot of Sparrow/Norrington fic. I like the sentiments conveyed in the icon but I don't tend to use it very often because it's not very often that I want to convey that sort of thing. It's a too serious icon to use for not conveying those sentiments. I'm not sure I've ever used it. I could use it for fic, I suppose, but that tends to be more a ficwhore sort of icon. Plus, I'm no longer as keen on the picture as I once was. If I needed the space, this would probably be one of the ones that went.

fake

The first manga series I ever bought. It's about two gay detectives in New York and how they get together with assorted adventures. It takes them pretty much all seven books and is lots of fun. I saw the first one in a shop, couldn't afford it, read some fic and a couple of years later ordered and purchased the entire series.

flatting

It's mostly there because I don't live at home; I flat with a couple of good friends of mine. I use this as a tag for anything related to the place we live or the people I live with really. It's vaguely for sorting things. I'm interested in other people's stories of flatting when they tell them to me, but I don't tend to seek them out. Very self-referential.

family

Blood relatives, mostly. I am in regular contact with my parents, occasional contact with my siblings and call my grandparents on their birthdays and Christmas (if I'm not seeing them). I was recently reminded that my grandparents are getting older and it's important to get the family history before they actually die. Someone suggested that I write it down, but it's not a written history, but oral and I would have to record it.

Have had a very relaxing day today. I feel like I've done hardly anything. Went to [livejournal.com profile] atomicsusan's place for brunch, which was delicious (S cooked it), and when we were delightfully replete we wandered down to the park and threw a disc around before heading back up to [livejournal.com profile] adrexia and [livejournal.com profile] rincewindtvd's place for coffee, lunch and good conversation.

I read my textbook walking back home and wondered what one of my workmates would say if she was out walking and saw me. She lives on Randwick Rd, so it was possible that I would run into her.

My flatmates, by contrast, have been most productive. C chopped wood and moved the branches sitting on the patio and did other gardening things and it's all very impressive. [livejournal.com profile] maudlinrose made yummy cookies, and they really are cookies rather than biscuits, which have melted chocolate drizzled on them as icing. There is a plate of them in the lounge for us to look at for a while and some in the kitchen to eat.

I will go and do dishes sortly, I think, since they need doing, and maybe see about getting something for dinner.

It hasn't felt much like ANZAC day today. Usually I'm much more conscious of the day and comment on it mentally at some point, but I don't really feel like I did that. It's felt like both Saturday and Sunday today - Saturday because I did washing and got up earlyish and worked yesterday and Sunday because I have work tomorrow and feel quite relaxed. Short weeks are good.

I finally worked out how to make animated icons in photoshop. I'm not very skilled at it yet, especially at saving them in the right file size for LJ, but I'm getting better at it. Made two from Bujold quotes, one from a random photo I took a while ago, and one with lots of dice for [livejournal.com profile] mashugenah because he was having a bad day, and I felt like experimenting. Mash's one is too fast, I think, but I'm pretty happy with the others.

Work was okay, I suppose. I didn't mind it, really. We were two girls down, so I finished around five, and there were lots of stayovers, but even more rooms. And I don't know. I just feel kinda blah. Was enjoying chatting to [livejournal.com profile] mashugenah, but he's gone to bed, and I'm bored. I don't even really feel like reading. I could start rereading The God Eaters again.

Been reading a Diana Wynne Jones lately, just before bed, and thus woke up from a dream where Cat and Chrestomanci had to merge for some reason, only Cat got mixed up, and thought he had to split in two, one to stay in bed and have a normal life, and the other to go with Chrestomanci. And I was supposed to be watching the version of Cat that stayed in bed, so I got up a little bit late today.

The flat hunting is going slowly. I'm starting to get anxious about it, since I need to give notice in a week, if we want to move on Waitangi weekend, and I really want to have somewhere to move by then. There are places we're checking out, but still. In preparation for moving, I am getting the cat used to wearing a harness and lead. She's mostly okay with the harness, after wearing it fairly solidly for a couple of days, but isn't so keen on the lead. And I'm kinda paranoid about her running away, back here, so I'm working out plans to deal with that.

And of course, I have to be at the train station by 7am Saturday morning for this wedding. Ah, well, it'll be good to see people again.
