So I'm here and stuff
Sep. 4th, 2010 02:09 amI had a vaguely witty post planned that encompassed the sheer 80sness of my hotel room (which is up a flight of stairs and down a flight of stairs and through a courtyard), with pictures, even. However, I'm on the ANZ free wireless at the Southern Cross railway station, which is half a block from my hotel and that gives me 50mg over 30 minutes twice a day.
I will have to right it up in more detail later, but a few noteworthy items:

I will have to right it up in more detail later, but a few noteworthy items:
- Heat! People kept saying Melbourne weather is like Wellington, which is true - except for the bit where it's a few degrees warmer
- Completely tiled bathroom
- NZ 2020 Natcon bid being taken relatively seriously
- Shopping
- Eating kangaroo (it was okay)
- China Mieville reading and signing
- Signing up to be in a Girl Genius radio play tomorrow
And for the concom of Au Contraire:
- Consistently being told by people that Au Contraire was excellent; and
- Jacqui Smith peering at me and saying "You look familiar. Where do I know you from?"
Re. the last, I volunteered to keep the unwanted people out of the kids programme "build your own lightsaber" and she and her son were there.
