*bounces* It's here, it's here!!!!
Hallowed Hunt!!!!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I'm so happy!
It's really good, too. I would consider it to be better than Paladin of Souls (which won a Hugo), but not as good as Curse of Chalion (which won the Mythopeic Award), and more... dense or intense than them both. Deeper, in a way, and certainly darker. Set about two hundred years or so before Chalion.
Thank you
scottiegirlc and R., because the $20 book voucher you gave me for my birthday last year paid for some of it. The $27.50 I had on my account with Bizzy Bees paid for most of the rest, leaving me with $2.50 to pay in cold, hard cash. I've been saving the first two for this particular book and it was cheaper than I expected - $50 NZ, not something like $65, which I would've paid and counted worth every penny.
So I went to Whitcoulls and checked out their 5 for $5 table (purchased: Shadow Warrior: The Autobiography of David McTaggart, Founder of Greenpeace International, David McTaggart; Tales From Korea: The Royal New Zealand Navy in the Korean War, compiled by Commodore G.F Hopkins; Graham Latimer: A Biography, Noel Harrison; Wolf Star, Tanith Lee; and The Sands of Time, Michael Hoeye), and decided they were the best selection, since most of the rest were uninteresting childrens stuff. Also went to Briscoes and got a duvet and duvet cover, since they were on special and I get cold easily.
Now I need to fit my new purchases into my bookcase. I won't bother with Hallowed Hunt *hugs book to self*, seeing as I don't immediately want to reread it and have volunteered to loan it to C. next.
But, squeeeeee. It's here and it's good and I'm really happy!

Date: 2005-06-08 10:09 am (UTC)I once encountered the autobiography of a fellow who commanded one of our frigates in the 70s, which of course meant that his entire career was entirely in peacetime, and thus boring as hell. There was only one interesting part in the whole damn thing, and it was the following sentence (occuring during a visit to the Phillipines): "I then went to a brothel popular among the lower ranks, but I didn't stay long."
