Nearly time for summer sheets
Nov. 15th, 2007 10:25 pmI was comfortable and relaxed, sipping at my lightly hazelnut-flavoured hot chocolate (we bought flavouring stuff at the supermarket yesterday) and listening to Il Divo when I went to go to a site I book marked ages and ages ago only to find that all my bookmarks were missing! Has firefox done another upgrade and forgotten to tell me? Because they were all there last night.
My nice relaxed mood has abruptly disappeared and I am somewhat annoyed and frustrated, which makes me even more annoyed and frustrated because I was enjoying being idly relaxed before going to bed.
I have been idling my way through some of Lois McMaster Bujold's latest books, recently, working backwards by publishing date, except when I need to go forward for internal chronology. Beguilement delighted me as it has every time I've read it. It's such a happy book. Legacy was better the second (third? fourth?) time around. Hallowed Hunt was... deeper. And while the Learned Hallana is fun, my favourite secondary character (excluding Ijada, because she's not really secondary) has to be Jokol. Or maybe I just have a weakness for the devotees of the Daughter. I got home from work and finished reading Hallowed Hunt in the late afternoon (although spring) sun with a dozing kitten on my lap, which seems vaguely appropriate.
New fuzzy green frog toe socks share space on top of the piles of paper on my desk along with some stickers (for putting the Dewey decimal number on book spines), various publications by the Law Society (now with numbered stickers), a small tube of New Zealand Honey moisturiser, the aforementioned mug of hot chocolate and various other bits and pieces.
My hair still makes me happy. And I like the new length a lot.
