Photogenic, schitzophrenic you
May. 10th, 2009 12:03 amWe were told on Wednesday last week that we had a week of rain coming up. Thursday was fine. Friday it rained. Today was fine (until we got out of the Star Trek movie and found it had started raining again). Tomorrow will probably rain.
Had church type people around for lunch today. We were planning to go walking in the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary (or maybe the Wilton bush or possibly even Tinakori Hill out the back of our place), but set this aside in favour of sitting in our lounge and talking.
The movie was lots of fun. There were thing I liked and disliked.
( Major spoilers )
All in all, the movie was crack, lots of fun and I would probably see it again (from somewhere in the theatre other than the first few rows back).

Bashing damage only
Apr. 28th, 2005 06:20 pmI went shopping with
maudlinrose yesterday and between us we got a number of things that we actually needed and some things that we didn't need but wanted regardless. I got some high heels as a thing I didn't actually need (they're really pretty though) and
jessikast's birthday present as something that I did.
Have officially signed up with the Northland Medical Centre to have them as my GP. Visited them, had my ankle checked out. Haven't broken it, which is good, but I crushed the nerve and I was told that if it wasn't feeling better in the morning, I was to go to physio. Perhaps as a result of the walking I was doing yesterday, I ended up going to physio this afternoon.
I went to the optomistrist yesterday afternoon (this does appear my week for medical things) and had my eyes checked. Since I got my glasses just over a year ago, my prescription has doubled. My right eye is now at 1 and my left at 0.5. Not much compared to people with really high prescriptions, but quite high enough for discomfort without glasses. No wonder I've been having trouble reading things and seeing properly!
C. and I met up yesterday evening and went over to alessan's, a guy we met at con with more books than I have and a much more pure collection. Most interesting. Between us, we went away with about a dozen. It is so nice to have things to read that I haven't read before. Alessan actually knows
darthsappho and
laputain and met them a number of years ago - back when
laputain was an undergraduate student! Based on this, he thought C. and I were older than we actually are, but we set the record straight. But books!
My ankle is becomming fairly luridly coloured. The physio used ultrasound and it had actually changed colour a little by the end of the session. That was kinda cool. She was pleased that I'm wearing my old hospital pressure stockings. I have to try and remember to rotate it and move it up and down every half hour. When I'm reading, I'm not very good at noting the passage of time. Which reminds me, I have a chapter to read before cell group tonight. I will endeavour to do that instead of picking up my dragon again...

Finished, finished, finished!!!!!
Apr. 25th, 2005 01:09 pmI'm at the stage once again where I have to wonder if the numbness of one's fingers affects ones typing speed. I'm thinking that it does, which is why I'm about to get a cup of tea.
Ahhh, that's better.
The bruise on my leg is nicely impressive. The centre part, around the teethmarks hasn't gone to black yet. It's still nicely mottled in red and white. However, the part surrounding that patch, stretching halfway around the outside of my leg, has gone to grey/black. The size is currently larger than my outstretched hand.
Went over to
maudlinrose's place last night and watched videoes with her; To Sir, With Love, starring Lulu and Kiss Me Kate, a Cole Porter film (I think) and did embroidery. I'm really happy.
maudlinrose's birthday present is finished. It looks great, if I do say so myself, and I'm suddenly wondering just what do I do next? Normally I have my next project all lined up and ready to start before I finish the last one, but this time I don't, because the end of the cathedral crept up on me so quickly. I'm thinking I will go back to my dragon for a while, and then there's a blackwork (beigework, really) piece with an iris that I might do.
*bounces* I'm finished
Actually have been given ideas for birthday presents for two of the four that I'm buying for this year. Still have no idea for my sister or for
jessikast and they're both having 21st's this year. Jewellery, probably, if I can find something that's right. I might go up to Hamilton for my sister's, assuming I can either get a flight/train cheap enough and can have the time off work.
Am also going to buy the next two volumes of FAKE because it's really good and I like it lots. Assuming Graphics is open this afternoon, of course. And I think I'm finished playing with my non-fiction books. I got stickers recently, so I've labelled all of them except the four that I can't find the Dewey number for and the Bible that I actually use (as opposed to the four that I don't). They're now in my bookcase in the correct order.
